Long-time Clarksville (Ohio) Clinton-Massie head football coach Dan McSurley knew coming into this season he’d have a young team that would face a demanding schedule.
The defending OHSAA Division IV state champions opened the season with four consecutive losses before earning their first win Friday night during the First Star Logistics Game of the Week 31-17 against Harrison.
In the five previous seasons, the Falcons have only lost eight games and no more than two in any one season in that same period.
However, the loss of several standout players to graduation from last year’s squad and a few critical injuries slowed down the Falcons early. However, McSurley feels his team is about the turn the corner as they enter Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference play.
On Friday night, Coach McSurley missed one of his best offensive linemen in senior Adam Frisch. But, he also spoke about how sophomore linebacker/running back Logan Chesser has inspired him by overcoming some great adversity this season.
DBHuddle spoke with Coach McSurley following the game about his team’s win and goals for the rest of this season.
