One of the first games played each season is the backyard rivalry between two schools based in Kettering, Ohio. The Alter Knights and Fairmont Firebirds usually open the football season on a Thursday night; however, Covid-19 protocols suspended the game last year. Derrick Shepard Jr. and the Knights were glad to see the game back on and fans in the stands despite the outcome not going as they had planned.
