Since playing against the New Orleans Saints, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has fought a nagging hip injury. While Chase is coming off the two best games of the season with a combined 262 receiving yards and four touchdowns, he was listed on the Bengals injury report as a Did Not Practice due to his hip.
Around 4:30 pm Thursday, Malik Wright of The Sitdown with Malik Wright posted on Twitter that multiple sources had told him Chase would miss Monday night’s AFC North battle against the Cleveland Browns and that Chase was expected to go to Injured Reserve.
No official statement on Chase from the Bengals, and head coach Zac Taylor said during a Thursday meeting with the media that Chase was sore, with no expectation of him missing game action.
However, multiple sources have said Chase visited a hip specialist on Wednesday and is seeking more answers about the injury.
Chase is the Bengals leading receiver and quarterback Joe Burrow’s primary target. This season, Chase has 47 receptions for 605 yards and six touchdowns. The Bengals are blessed at wide receiver, as Tyler Boyd has 29 receptions for 455 yards and three touchdowns, and Tee Higgins with 31 receptions for 455 yards and two touchdowns.
However, the loss of Chase would be a blow to the Bengals’ offense as they look for their first win in AFC North play, already losing to the Steelers and Ravens.
