UPDATE: WITH A CHANGE AT HEAD COACH AT DUKE, KLARE SIGNED WITH PURDUE.
Last season Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier tight end Max Klare had accepted a position change from quarterback to tight end and was ready for a breakout season. However, during the Bombers’ first game against Brownsburg (Ind.), Klare suffered an injury that could have sidelined him for the rest of the season.
Instead, Klare rehabbed and fought back as he watched his teammates win their first two playoff games. After missing most of the season, Klare returned, playing a role in St. Xavier winning the Ohio Division I state title.
After the season, Klare continued working and, by early 2021, started to gain notice from college coaches earning offers from Power Five programs. In early June, Klare made the call giving Duke his verbal pledge.
Off to a 2-0 start with impressive wins over West Chester (Ohio), Lakota West (31-14), and Colerain (42-7), Klare is excited about the direction of this year’s team and his future at Duke.
