Jermaine Mathews Jr is one of Ohio’s top prospects. Already gave Ohio State his verbal pledge. He is listed as an athlete by most recruiting services for good reason, as he could line up on offense as a slot or outside receiver. However, we like him as a defensive back as he’s got above average change of direction and can play press coverage. Plays with a high motor as he will come off his man and find the ball. Because of his receiver skill set, Mathews can high point the ball and make plays on tips. Will need to continue to add bulk to his frame and strength but has the early skill set if he can stay healthy to take his game beyond the college level.
