I was really fortunate to run into Reggie Gilliam last Saturday at the Toledo football game. Reggie has a story. We only touched on a little bit.
Coming out of Westland High School, a suburb of Columbus, he was a 5’9-200 all positions player and on both sides of the ball. Carried a 2.2 in the classroom. The ACT score was tough.
University of Toledo took him as preferred walk-on. His position was either FB of TE. All at 6’0-225. Grades were improving. As a senior, he graduated with a 4.0. He also made second team ALL-Mid American Conference.
The Buffalo Bills signed him as an unrestricted free agent. At 6’0-245, he has is the Bills number 1 fullback. Watched him score a touchdown on national television two weeks ago.
Tremendous personality. Always spoke to people who stopped to say, “hello.” Promised to do a video podcast with me in the near future.
Reggie Gillam is a role model at Westland High School. Really not only, Westland HS, but for kids throughout Columbus and the Midwest. A preferred walk on. An restricted free agent. The starting fullback for the Buffalo Bills, one of the better teams in the NFL.
