For Wilmington (Ohio) junior offensive lineman Chris Stewart, things are starting to happen on the recruiting front.
The 6-foot-5, 270-pound lineman enjoyed a strong summer at several camps and made a gameday visit with the Miami RedHawks this weekend.
“I was excited to get invited to Miami,” said Stewart. “It’s the first of what I hope is many visits to learn more about several college programs.
“Their director of player personnel, Coady Keller, reached out to me about visiting,” he continued. “I spoke with offensive line coach James Patton for a short time and with defensive line coach Ron Burton.
“Miami has great facilities, and I liked their weight room and indoor facility. I also liked how everything is connected. Unfortunately, we only had a chance to tour the football facilities. However, you can see the campus is very nice.”
What would earning a scholarship offer from the RedHawks mean to Stewart?
“It would be amazing,” he said. “Miami is a great academic school with a great football tradition.”
This past summer Stewart camped with the RedHawks along with Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Pittsburgh, Toledo, and Ball State. He’s hoping to make a few more game-day visits this fall.
“I hope to visit West Virginia, Toledo, and Bowling Green this fall,” said Stewart about possible visits.
