The news came quickly when Joe Burrow was sidelined with an appendix surgery just as the Cincinnati Bengals began the start prep for the 2022 NFL season.
For Bengals quarterback coach Dan Pitcher, it changed the scripted plans for the start of camp but will give him a chance to learn more about the players in his quarterback’s room.
While Pitcher is not worried about Burrow missing time to recover, he knows backup quarterbacks Brandon Allen and Jake Browning is now being given time against one of the top defensive units in the NFL in Burrow’s absence. That should help the team overall during the season in case injury would take down one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL.
Coach Pitcher returns to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss Burrow, Allen, Browning, and more as the Bengals get ready to take the field in their first preseason game of 2022.
