There is no mistaking why coaches with backgrounds in Southwest Ohio came calling to Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods High School for 2023 running back Trey Cornist.

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound running back is not a one-trick pony with his combination of speed and power out of the backfield. Capable of playing on either side of the ball, Cornist rushed for 1,304 yards at Mt. Healthy as a junior and is now another weapon for the defending OHSAA Division II state champions as they look to make their way back to a championship game.

Cornist gave Georgia Tech running backs coach Mike Daniels, a native of Cincinnati, his verbal pledge in early June. While playing with a cast on his right wrist and forearm, Cornist has still averaged 10.3 yards a carry and three touchdowns during the first two weeks of the season.

DBHuddle.com spoke with Cornist during a visit to Winton Woods High School in this one-on-one interview presented by First Star Logistics.
